posing ideas for your next wedding

Dancing Together

I like to have my couples start with a cuddle before I ask them to put their arms around each other and slow dance on the spot. It creates beautiful but natural movement and gives them an opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera without staring directly into the lens.

The Dip Kiss

A dramatic and fun pose to try with couples who are willing, where the groom dips the bride for a passionate kiss. This always doubles as a great way to show off the brides footwear if she has on a long dress that goes right to the floor.

First Look Embrace

A tender moment captured when the couple first sees each other on their wedding day. Shooting over each persons shoulder, from behind to capture the other persons reaction is my favourite way to shoot a first look. Making sure you're thinking 'macro to micro' and getting a nice wide shot from the side before moving in tighter for detail shots.

Holding Each Other Close

Embracing tightly, kisses and closeness. The holy trinity for beautiful wedding day pictures. If your couple are not naturally affectionate you can still achieve stunning images with this pose by having them stare (no smiling) right into the camera or off into the distance.

Nose-to-Nose Touch

A playful pose where the couple touch noses. You can have them do silly things like sniff each other, try to "kiss teeth" or bump foreheads to create in photo chemistry.

Walking Hand in Hand

A classic pose! And it's a classic for a reason. You can create amazing wide shots with this pose and it also allows your couple to have downtime between all of the up close and person shots. People enjoy a little space too!

The Lift

Have your groom lift the bride right above her thighs. You can even have him spin on the spot while the bride kicks her legs up. This pose often leads to giggles too, which is always a win.

Veil Kiss

If your couple are comfortable with you right up close and personal try hopping inside the veil and shooting a nice close up shot of them cuddling, kissing or just touching foreheads.

Ring Exchange

Capturing the moment when the couple exchanges rings. I like to do this completely side on and then from each persons perspective to make sure I have variety in my final galleries.

Laughing Together

Candid shots of the couple laughing together! Keep your camera close by at all times just in case. All kinds of things on a wedding day can lead to laughter.

Back-to-Back Gaze

Position your couple back-to-back, looking over their shoulders at each other. These shots are fantastic for creating dramatic images that pop, think Facebook cover photo update!

Forehead to Forehead

My go to intimate pose ever single time. Have your bride and groom gently touch foreheads and chat amongst themselves.

Sunset Silhouette

Capture your couple against a beautiful sunset backdrop (if there is one) and create a romantic silhouette. Overcast clouds work too.
